Help Writing Your English Lesson Plan

Are you an English Teacher?

Being in a teacher is a lot of fun and is the passion of many, but preparing for each classroom experience can be quite frustrating. Ensuring that your English lesson plan is well rounded and will get the important messages across to the students is difficult and it requires a lot of experience to get it just right. Most educators will develop a system over time that will help them prepare for each class, but even then, sometimes teachers just need to take a load off and relax. How can teachers do this?

Instead of writing your English lesson plan every day you can find resources and programs that will allow you to simply teach from a pre-planned script. While you probably wouldn't want to do this every day, it can be a nice diversion to have someone else do the work every once and again. Many educators use these resources to get new ideas about how they can teach certain aspects of the language or more creative ways to teach so that their students develop a passion for the language as well. When teachers use the resources available to them they can remember the passion they have for the subject which is then passed onto their students.

Writing an English lesson plan day in and day out can be difficult, so every now and then teachers deserve to take a break. The problem is that it can be hard to find prepared classes that give the quality of the information that the educator would expect. While it is nice to have such resources to fall back on it is hard for the educator to give themselves permission to use such resources when the quality of the information is inferior. For this reason, educators should attempt to use programs that are written for this express purpose. In fact using programs that are written for teachers by teachers are usually the best because they provide the best information in a way that it can be used in every classroom.

Most educators usually hear about products and programs that are said to help with the planning processes that are a part of their job. It can be frustrating to check out each of them because there are so many programs and products that just do not work as planned. That being said, there are still some products out there that can enrich the classroom experience.

5 Tips for Finding the Best Graduate Schools

Are you spending all your brain power trying to find the best graduate schools out there? Save some time and energy by using these 5 tips for finding the best graduate schools suited to your needs and goals.

Looking for the best graduate schools is not as easy as viewing a list of top colleges, since what may be the best graduate school for one person will be a poor decision for another. This is because the best graduate schools are the ones that fit your specific needs and goals. Choosing the best graduate schools is a lot like choosing outfits; the ones that fit you the best may not be the best ones for someone else.

1. Focus On Your Specific Area Of Study

Even the best graduate schools overall are limited in their areas of study. Because of this it is important to look at the academic department that represents your area of focus and evaluate the school based on this. For example, if you want to become a forensic psychologist it will not be helpful to find a great college if it does not have a comprehensive forensics program.

2. Learn About the Differences Between Private & State Colleges

There are differences between private and state colleges that need to be considered when looking for the best graduate schools. One of these differences is that private colleges tend to cost more. This, however, may be offset if the college offers better financial assistance programs. It will also be less important if you are considering attending a public college in another state where out-of-state tuition can dramatically increase costs, putting them closer to the costs of a private college. Other differences are that private colleges may be associated with a particular religion, as well as being more likely to curb enrollment than state colleges. Many people still choose to apply to both private and state colleges, keeping in mind their differences.

3. View the Scheduling Options They Offer

In order to find the best graduate schools for yourself, it is important to view the scheduling options they have available. Some colleges offer night classes, weekend classes, or online classes. Other colleges adhere to a more traditional schedule or weekday classes. When searching for the best graduate schools to apply to, consider these different scheduling options so that you can choose a schedule that allows for you to be alert and productive in your schooling, which will be reflected in how well you do.

4. Find Out About the Learning Methods Utilized

Take the time to learn about the methods implemented. Some colleges may rely more heavily on hands-on assessments, such as internships or mock situations where you can practice new skills, while other colleges will focus more on in-class lectures. Make sure that the method used fits your needs and goals.

5. Talk It Over

Talk to family and friends. Often times they will be able to offer valuable feedback on different aspects of this decision making process. In addition to this, it is always a good idea to talk through decisions, since this can provide additional insight and awareness.

Finding the best graduate schools takes time and energy. Using the above tips will help to make the whole process much easier.

Graduate School Admissions (Senior High School)

In order to gain acceptance into Graduate School (Senior High School), several requirements or educational items must be met. These items vary from school to school; however, the main ones needed are listed below, with a brief overview of each.

- Transcript –

Colleges need a copy of a student's permanent academic records, otherwise known as a transcript. This transcript details the student's academic background by listing the courses taken along with the grades achieved in each. So that security measures are enforced and transcripts not altered, these documents need to come from the registrar's office of the college or university attended. Some colleges and universities accept telephone orders for transcripts, charging a few dollars each to process the requests and mailing. Others honor online or postal mail requests.

When a student has an original transcript copy with a raised seal on hand, a copy of this may be substituted, depending upon the graduate school's requirements. Interested parties should check ahead first to see which type is needed. Do allow plenty of time for orders to reach destinations, as the process can take many weeks. And do follow up to make sure your transcripts arrive. (Many do not and must be resent!)

- Standardized Test Scores –

The results of standardized tests such as the GRE are required. Depending upon the major area of study, other scores may be needed such as: the LSAT for law school; the MCAT for medical school; the GMAT for business school.

- Recommendations –

Letters of recommendation are required to help show your good traits and personality, etc. to new prospective school administrators. So choose professors from your past undergraduate years who can write positive letters for your file. Include any from persons with whom research and volunteer work was performed as well.

- Essay –

Most graduate programs seek a personal statement and/or admissions essay to be submitted along with the application. Put a lot of thought and planning into this, using books form the public library to help as needed; creating an outline, draft and final revision copy. Include volunteer and research work you've done and plan to do, any career work, etc. Ask the Graduate School for guidelines and samples.

- MISC –

Some schools require an interview. Seek job application books for tips in this area for what to wear, speaking tips, questions and answer tips, etc.

How Video Games Promote Learning on Children - 7 Tips

Video games’ presence and popularity have been ever-growing now days. They have become one of the most popular entertainment activities for people of all ages including children. Parents should take advantage about this situation to use video games in educational purpose. We should realize the challenge in video games always interesting in children views could function as powerful tools in assisting children cognitive processes.

The use of multimedia in education has significantly changed children’s learning processes. The promise of computers and video games as teachers was recognize in the 1980s where there was a nationwide push to get computers into the classroom. In the same period video games also moved into children’s house. Many researchers investigate whether computer-based video games facilitate children’s cognitive learning achievement. And here are some of the results.

According to the findings of the study, future research should continue to investigate the impact of computer-based video games along with different instructional strategies on varied children’s learning achievements, such as facts, concepts, comprehension, problem-solving, or critical-thinking skills. Results from a number of research studies indicate that appropriately designed multimedia instruction enhances students’ learning performance in science, mathematics, and literacy.

And while some of them have educational content and promote learning, problem solving and help with the development of motor skills and coordination, others emphasize negative themes and promote killing, fighting, foul language, criminal behavior and violence in general. Some children accept violence as a way to handle problems. Studies have also shown that the more realistic and repeated the exposure to violence, the greater the impact on children. In addition, children with emotional, behavioral and learning problems may be more influenced by violent images.

Parents should have a good knowledge and understanding of each child so that they can assist them in selecting appropriate learning materials including video games. These are some tips to buying games for children:

  • Checking the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) ratings. The rating system will suggest whether a game is appropriate for young children, or if it’s best for teens and older. Just remember you know your children better than anyone, so use the ESRB ratings as a guide instead of a rule.
  • Find out what your children hoping for with talk to them, but make sure that they understand you’re going to find out more before making a final decision. I know you will get the games that may be educational as well as fun.
  • Hit some game review sites to get a preliminary list of games. Amazon.com and gamespot.com reviews most major games that have been released. The way you have the better idea to select appropriate games both in content and level of development for your children.
  • Pay attention at the description of the rating. Find the explanation why it’s rated that way. This is an excellent starting point for whether a game is something you’d be comfortable with.
  • Try the demo before you buy it, especially if you’re not sure about the content. Many games have demo versions available for free download. You can often find the demos on the game publishers’ site, but if not, you can search for it.

Now parents can enjoy playing video games with their children. But there are another step to make sure this activity will not make problems. Here are a few tips to avoid negative impact of video games:
  1. Do not install video game equipment in your children bedroom
  2. Playing video games with their children to experience the games content.
  3. Remembering that you are a role model for your children – including video games you play as an adult.
  4. Set limits on how often and how long your child is allowed to play video games.
  5. Strongly warning children about potential serious dangers of Internet contacts and relationships while playing games online.
  6. Take the time to discuss with your children the games they are playing. Ask them how they feel about what they observe in these video games.
  7. Talking with other parents about your family video game rules.
